That way, you'll gradually increase the chances of acquiring a level 25 rune over an Epic one. So, I suggest hanging on to all of your Epic Runes instead of converting them into Mirian. Furthermore, defeated Nemeses (the collective term for captains and warchiefs) won't drop Epic Runes that you already have.
